What is a photo block?
A photo block is a photo printed directly onto a block that stands up by itself, with no frame. At Photo Blocs, your photo is UV printed onto a 25mm thick wooden bloc with a non-slip base and an edge finish in Black, Oak, Walnut or White. There is no glass and nothing to assemble.

What is a canvas print?
A canvas print is a photo printed onto canvas fabric, usually stretched over a wooden frame and hung on a wall. Canvases have no glass and tend to be larger than desk-sized prints, so they suit big, bold images seen from across a room.
What is a framed print?
A framed print is a photo print held in a frame, usually behind glass or acrylic and often with a card mount around the picture. Most frames hang on a wall, and many smaller ones have a fold-out stand so they can sit on a surface. Frames are flexible, though glass can reflect light from windows and lamps.
When a photo block is the better choice
A photo block is the better choice when the photo will be seen up close on a flat surface, when you do not want to hang anything, or when you want a small gift that is ready to display. It stands on its own, so it can go wherever there is a little shelf space.
Desks and work spaces
A desk photo is seen from arm's length, which is where a 5x5 or 6x4 bloc works well. It takes up little room, there is no glass in front of the photo, and the non-slip base helps it stay put.
Shelves, mantelpieces and bedside tables
A bloc fits on narrow shelves and busy mantelpieces where a frame on a fold-out stand can be awkward. Different sizes also group well, for example a landscape 8x6 with a couple of 5x5 blocs beside it. Wherever you put one, keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Homes where you would rather not drill
If you rent, have just decorated or simply do not want to put holes in a wall, a photo block avoids the problem. There are no hooks, nails or fixings, and you can move it to another room in seconds.

Photos you want to swap or keep as originals
A photo block is a permanent print of one photo, so if you like to change the picture every few months, a frame you can open and refill is more practical. A frame is also the way to display an original print itself; a photo block is printed from a digital file, so an old print would need scanning first.
Photo block or frame for a gift?
For a gift, a photo block is usually the simpler option because it arrives ready to stand on a shelf. A frame or canvas can be the better gift when you know the person wants a wall picture and has space for it.
